24 August 2026 onwards |
Complete Pre-Enrolment (Stage 1)From this date we will start to send out emails to invite students to complete Pre-Enrolment in MySIS (including MySIS login details). The email subject line is 'Pre-Enrolment at QMUL is now available'. New students will be processed daily over the upcoming weeks so please do not worry if you haven't received your invitation immediately after this date. This is the first step to becoming fully enrolled and you can start Pre-Enrolment as soon as you have access to the task - we encourage you to complete it as soon as possible. Pre-Enrolment in MySIS should take about 15 minutes to complete and involves you supplying information about yourself, uploading an identification document, confirming how you will be paying your tuition fees, and uploading a photo for your student ID card. Unless you are a British or Irish national, if you will be studying in the UK you will be asked if you have arrived in the country yet. If you have not arrived, we ask that you supply the date that you will arrive and return to the task on that date to upload proof of your visa and arrival in the UK. Once you have arrived in the UK, you will need to upload evidence of your immigration permission and proof of when you arrived in the UK. Once you have completed the task you will receive an email with the subject line 'Thank you for completing Pre-Enrolment'. Pay your Tuition FeesYou will need to pay or make arrangements to pay your tuition fees (e.g. set up an instalment plan or provide us with your Student Finance 'Student Support Number' during Pre-Enrolment) with the Fees Office. You will not be fully enrolled until you have paid or made arrangements to pay your fees. You will be sent guidance on how to pay your fees shortly after completing Pre-Enrolment and an invoice will be sent via email within a few working days. IT AccessYou’ll receive your IT account details directly from IT Services via email within 72 hours of being invited to complete Pre-Enrolment. You’ll now be able to access QMplus, the QM App, your QM email account and Eduroam (campus wi-fi). You don’t need to have completed Pre-Enrolment or be enrolled to have access but you do need to have been invited to start the Pre-Enrolment task. Use the 24/7 Live Chat facility or call +44 020 7882 8888 to speak with IT Services if you have not received this email or you cannot access your accounts. |

Registry Services will email your personal email address, confirming your place on your programme and inviting you to complete Pre-Enrolment in MySIS. MySIS login details are included in the email and you can start Pre-Enrolment straight away. The subject line is 'Pre-Enrolment at QMUL is now available!'.
In the Pre-Enrolment task, you will be required to:
- Confirm your personal and academic details
- Provide a photo of yourself for your student record
- Provide proof of your identity (e.g. passport)
- Provide evidence of your immigration permission (if you are not a British or Irish Citizen and are studying in the UK)
- Pay or make arrangements to pay your tuition fees / give us information about your Student Loan
- Read and accept QMUL Policies and Regulations
Documents Required
Please see our Enrolment Documentation section for further guidance on what documents you should provide during Pre-Enrolment.
If you are not a British or Irish citizen and will be studying in the UK but haven't arrived yet, you can complete the Pre-Enrolment task as soon as you are invited to do so. Once you have arrived in the UK, you will need to complete the Immigration Permission (Visa) Details - Part Two - Visa Upload section in which you can:
- Confirm your UK arrival date.
- Provide evidence of valid immigration permission.
- Provide evidence of your date of UK entry.
After completing Pre-Enrolment you will also receive an email from the Fees Office with guidance on how to pay your tuition fees. The email subject line is ‘Tuition Fees - Funding Option’. Please read these emails carefully and note that you will not be fully enrolled until you have paid your fees, or made provision to pay your fees (e.g. set up an instalment plan or provided proof of sponsorship) with the Fees Office.
Please be aware that if you do not upload a suitable photo of yourself and a valid identification document and evidence of your immigration permission (if required) then we will not be able to start 'Stage 2: Queen Mary Enrolment'.
Once you have completed Pre-Enrolment, you will receive an email to confirm. The email subject line is ‘Thank you for completing Pre-Enrolment’. Once you have successfully completed Pre-Enrolment, the next stage of your enrolment is Queen Mary Enrolment. Please note – you are not a fully enrolled student yet as we are required to check your documents.
What to do if you change your mind and do not want to continue with your Enrolment
If you complete Pre-Enrolment but decide that you do not want to enrol and become a student of Queen Mary, we encourage you to phone us or visit us as soon as possible to let us know so that we can try and hold your enrolment. Please see our FAQ 'How can I withdraw or defer the start of my programme' for full guidance on the steps you will need to take.
After you have completed Pre-Enrolment in MySIS, the Enrolment Team will start Queen Mary Enrolment ahead of your programme start date. This is where checks are carried out on the information and identity documents that you have submitted and we check the information we have about your tuition fee payment.
Please note that if you are not a British or Irish citizen and will be studying in the UK, we will not start Queen Mary Enrolment until you have arrived in the UK and uploaded everything as requested in the Pre-Enrolment task.
There are three possible outcomes following the checks carried out during Queen Mary Enrolment:
- We cannot proceed with your enrolment: If you have not uploaded a suitable photo, ID or immigration permission documents (if required), we will not be able to proceed with your enrolment. Instead, we will email you to ask you to upload further documentation, under the header 'Instructions from the Enrolment Team' and re-upload the requested documents.
- Full Enrolment: If you have provided all necessary information, uploaded all valid ID/immigration permission documents (if required) and we have been able to confirm you have paid or made provision to pay your fees, we will fully enrol you.
- Temporary Enrolment: If you have not paid or made provision to pay your fees with the Fees Office, or you have an outstanding qualification or medical check, we may grant you temporary enrolment and email you to advise what we need from you. Guidance on how to resolve your temporary enrolment is available.
You can check your enrolment status within the ‘My Details’ section of your MySIS account - scroll down to ‘Enrolment Status’.
This information does not apply to:
- British and Irish citizens
- Distance Learning students studying outside the UK
If you are studying in the UK, we are required to check that you have the correct immigration permission to allow you to study in the UK before we can enrol you.
When can I start Pre-Enrolment?
You will be able to complete Pre-Enrolment, including uploading ID and immigration permission documents, as soon as you are invited to do so and before you have arrived in the UK. Guidance of what you need to upload is available in the Pre-Enrolment task and our Immigration Permission Information webpages. If completing the task before arriving, you will be asked for the date that you expect to arrive.
However, we will not be able to progress your enrolment until you have uploaded everything that we need for example, proof that you have arrived in the UK. Therefore, if you Pre-Enrol before you have arrived in the UK, you will need to re-enter the Pre-Enrolment task once you have arrived in the UK and complete the Immigration Permission (Visa) Details - Part Two - Visa Upload section and:
- Confirm your UK arrival date.
- Provide evidence of valid immigration permission.
- Provide evidence of your date of UK entry.
IMPORTANT: Please be advised that you will not be fully enrolled until you have paid or made arrangements to pay your tuition fees. Please aim to make your payment arrangements as early as possible to ensure a smooth enrolment onto your programme. Your fee payments/arrangements are made with the Fees Office so please contact them directly if you have any questions that have not been answered here or on the Fees website.
During Pre-Enrolment, if there are tuition fees associated with your programme then you will be asked to confirm how these fees will be paid. Depending on which funding option you choose, you will receive an email from the Fees Office immediately after you have completed Pre-Enrolment which gives you full guidance on what you should do in order to pay or how to evidence that your fees will be paid. The email subject line is ‘Tuition Fees – Funding Option’. You can view the funding option emails online. You may also receive a tuition fee invoice within a few days of completing the task.
You can pay or make arrangements to pay your fees by:
- Paying your fees in full
- Arranging an instalment plan to pay in instalments (remember to login to the instalment plan portal using your college username (e.g. abc123) rather than student ID number)
- If you have arranged a Student Finance tuition fee loan, you must provide us with your Student Support Number (e.g. SFDU12345678A) via the Pre-Enrolment task. Or, you can update your number in the ‘My Details’ tab in MySIS.
- If an external sponsor is paying your fees, send your sponsorship letter to feesponsor@qmul.ac.uk
- If you are in receipt of a scholarship or studentship, send your confirmation letter to feesponsor@qmul.ac.uk
- If you are in receipt of an American Student Loan, send confirmation of your loan request to bursaries@qmul.ac.uk
Please read the guidance sent to you by the Fees Office after Pre-Enrolment carefully as it contains full instructions on exactly what you should do in order to pay or make arrangements for your tuition fees.
You will not be fully enrolled until the Fees Office can confirm that you have paid or made arrangements to pay your fees.
Any questions about your Tuition Fees?
- Please familiarise yourself with the University Fee Regulations and visit the Tuition Fees website if you have any questions.
- If you need to contact the Fees Office you should log an enquiry through AskQM. The Enrolment Team cannot support you with paying your fees.
- For further advice on undergraduate or postgraduate funding, your fee status or general guidance on money related matters, please see the Advice and Counselling 'Money' webpages.
If you have been temporarily enrolled, this may mean that
- we are missing some information from you,
- the information you have provided to us was not sufficient,
- you have not paid or made provision to pay your tuition fees, or
- we are processing your payment or payment information
Please be advised that there is a deadline for you to resolve your temporary enrolment and become fully enrolled. You will receive an email confirming your temporary enrolment status, a deadline to complete your temporary enrolment and instructions on what you need to do.
Please see our guidance page for an overview of the reasons for temporary enrolment and how you can resolve it.
Once your temporary enrolment has been resolved and you have been fully enrolled, you will receive an email to confirm this and the subject line is 'Your Enrolment at QMUL'. You can also check your enrolment status within the ‘My Details’ section of your MySIS account - scroll down to 'Enrolment Status'.
Once you have full or temporary enrolment, you will be eligible to book an appointment via MySIS to collect your Student ID Card at an AskQM hub. You will be able to book a time convenient for you to collect your card .
Please see our ID card collection webpage for the latest guidance on how to obtain your card.
Once you are fully or temporary enrolled, you will be able to access certain Queen Mary facilities and services, as well as being able to collect your Student ID Card. Please see our webpage for guidance on what you will have access to once Queen Mary Enrolment is complete.
If you are on a specific Distance Learning programme, please see our guidance for you on our Distance Learning Enrolment webpages.
If you are a non-British/Irish national on a Distance Learning programme and will be living or studying in the UK, during Pre-Enrolment you will be required to complete Immigration Permission Details - Part One and Part Two to evidence that you hold valid immigration permission to live/study in the UK.
Please remember to include your student ID number in any correspondence!
Please be advised that during the enrolment period, all teams and services receive extremely high volumes of enquiries. Therefore, we aim to respond to you within 10 working days where possible. Please try and see if your question has already been answered on this page or in the FAQ section before submitting an enquiry.
