Being a mentor and reviewer for the TRP offers a great opportunity to support colleagues in reflecting on their practice, and articulating the impact they have on teaching, learning and the student experience. I find it especially rewarding to work with professional services staff whose contributions can sometimes be less widely recognised, yet who are absolutely central to how we enable students to thrive.
Supporting colleagues to gain recognition for this work is a genuine privilege. I enjoy helping applicants uncover the depth of what they do every day - often work they themselves have taken for granted - and to frame it within the Professional Standards Framework in a way that is evaluative and reflective. Seeing individuals recognise and be recognised for their expertise, and the value of their contribution to the wider learning environment, is always satisfying.
