Dagenham Park School students visit Queen Mary for Business and Finance taster sessions
The School of Business and Management at Queen Mary University of London recently welcomed Year 12 students from Dagenham Park School to campus, as part of its widening participation work in partnership with London Higher.

The visit introduced students to undergraduate study in Business and Accounting and Finance, offering a first-hand insight into how these subjects are taught at university level.
Students took part in interactive taster sessions led by academic staff. Dr Federica Liberini, Senior Lecturer in Quantitative Analytics, delivered Explaining the World with Data, an introduction to how data analytics is used in business and policy. Dr Jen-Chung Mei, Lecturer in Digital Economy, led Economics Thinking with Data, which included an introduction to macroeconomics and how data informs economic decision-making.
The sessions were designed to give students a practical understanding of how analytical thinking is applied to real-world challenges, while also building confidence in engaging with university-style learning.
The visit concluded with a campus tour led by a current student ambassador, giving attendees an opportunity to explore Queen Mary’s facilities and learn more about student life.
Initiatives like this form part of the School’s ongoing commitment to supporting students from a wide range of backgrounds in accessing higher education and exploring future study and career pathways.
