Undergrad Social & Dissertation Revision Session
Undergraduate Dissertation Session Brings Students Together at Mile End Library

Library Student Partners and the Academic Skills Centre hosted a successful Undergraduate Social and Dissertation Revision session as part of StudyWell on Wednesday 15 April in the Mile End Library Seminar Room.
The event was designed as a relaxed, student-led space where undergraduates from across disciplines could connect, share ideas, and make progress on their dissertations in a supportive environment.
The session opened with 30 minutes of informal socialising, giving students the opportunity to discuss their dissertation topics and exchange experiences from their final year. This was followed by a focused one-hour writing session using the Pomodoro technique, helping participants maintain concentration while benefiting from a shared, motivating atmosphere.
The event was organised and led by third-year undergraduate Library Student Partners who are currently working on their dissertations and attended by an Academic Skills Advisor who was available to offer guidance and answer questions when needed.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with participants rating the session as “great.” Students highlighted the welcoming and calm atmosphere, the chance to connect with peers from different courses, and the balance of quiet study time with refreshments as key strengths of the event.
Due to the event's success, the Academic Skills Centre plans to run a series of these events throughout the upcoming academic year and aims to expand to include events for PG as well.
