This marks the 17th edition of this conference series, which rotates among central locations within the IEEE Region 8 (Europe, Middle East, and Africa). The preceding edition was held at Queen Mary University of London in April 2025.
The theme for this year was "Human-centered Engineering Education: Empowering Sustainable Innovation and Ethical Leadership through AI and Digital Transformation."
The IEEE EDUCON Meritorious Service Award recognises individuals for their exceptional contributions to the administrative and managerial efforts of IEEE EDUCON.
Dr Usman Naeem was presented with this award at the opening ceremony of IEEE EDUCON 2026 by Professor Edmundo Tovar, the chair of the EDUCON steering committee, who made the following remarks regarding Dr Naeem:
“In many of his achievements, I would like to highlight his strong commitment to innovation, his ability to connect people and especially the creation of term ‘EDUCONers’.
He inspires our community. A concept that has significantly strengthened our identity and our sense of belonging to our community. His contribution has not only impacted what we do but who we are”.
